Kenna Rewcastle

Kenna Rewcastle is a visiting assistant research scientist with the Center for Global Sustainability at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. Her work focuses on estimating greenhouse gas emissions from the agriculture, forestry and other land use sectors at the national and state-levels. Prior to joining CGS, Rewcastle spent three years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she co-led development of GHG estimates for the agriculture and land-use sectors as part of the U.S. National GHG Inventory Report. While at the EPA, she also led international transparency efforts under the Paris Agreement and supported domestic and international stakeholders by developing emissions estimation tools, improving inventory methodologies and advising policymakers. Rewcastle has provided technical assistance to over a dozen countries and numerous state partners. An ecologist and soil scientist by training, Rewcastle conducted research at the University of Michigan as a post doctoral researcher investigating the impact of climate change on soil carbon and nutrient cycling. She holds a PhD from the University of Vermont and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
