April is Do Good Month! In partnership with the University of Maryland Alumni Association and the Center for Community Engagement, we are excited to bring you the Do Good Service Challenge! Make a difference in your community by completing at least three (3) activities from any of the categories below. When you’re done, submit the quick form to receive a custom UMD Do Good Tote Bag (while supplies last)!
*Items with an asterisk in front are UMD campus based opporutnities , while items without an asterisk can be completed anywhere and don't require being local to College Park.
Do Good Month Service Challenge
- *Explore New Service Opportunities on or near UMD's campus – Find a meaningful volunteer role through the Services 24/7 Portal.
- *Support the Campus Pantry – Help stock, sort, or distribute essential items to students. Sign up to volunteer here.
- *Volunteer at Maryland Day – Volunteer with a campus organization during this annual celebration. Reach out to recycle@umd.edu for volunteer information.
- Volunteer Opportunities across the US: Spend a few hours supporting a cause. Sign up to volunteer here.
- Recognize a Changemaker – Write a thank-you note to someone who is making a positive impact in your community.
- Attend a Community Event – Join a workshop, panel, or hands-on activity that expands your understanding of local issues. If you’re local to College park, check out upcoming events here, or view Alumni Service Opportunities all over the country here.
- *Experience the Do Good Challenge – See student teams pitch bold solutions to real-world problems at the Riggs Alumni Center on April 23. RSVP to attend the Do Good Challenge
- Reduce Your Environmental Impact – Choose one eco-friendly action: bike, walk, recycle, or bring a reusable cup.
- Watch an Episode of Do Good Now– Discover how UMD changemakers are driving impact across campus and beyond. Checkout an episode here.
- Support a Local or Terp Business- leave a positive review.
- Donate What You Can – Contribute clothing, food, books, or funds to a local
organization. - Give Back Digitally – Share an inspiring story of how you are making an impact. We may feature you on our alumni blog.
- Connect with a fellow Terp on Terrapins Connect - Where students and alumni unlock opportunities!
- Give a Kindness Spark – Make or share something small and meaningful (a handwritten note, small surprise, or encouraging message) to uplift someone around you.
- Help support Do Good's work by making a gift.
