It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of lifelong philanthropist and University of Maryland alumna Florence Konigsberg Brody on March 8.

Together with her late husband Norman Brody, Florence established the Norman and Florence Brody Family Foundation Public Policy Forum at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy to bring renowned leaders and public policy experts to campus to increase discussion and awareness of national and international topics.

Florence Brody was born and raised in Washington, DC, and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1947 with a degree in business and education. She was devoted to philanthropy and was involved in many local activities, including the archives committee through the Washington Hebrew Congregation and the WIC program through the Children’s National Medical Center.

She is survived by her two children, Bill Brody and Sherry Brody Brodner; grandchildren, Deidre, Curtis, David and Eli; sister, Betty Goldstein; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
