ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dillon Bradley is a junior public policy major whose interests include environmental and social policy. He is currently interning for Maryland State Senator Mary Beth Carozza, an experience that has sharpened his policy writing skills and given him unique insights into the Maryland General Assembly. Bradley is excited to share both broad and practical lessons he has learned in his hands-on work under Senator Carroza.
Jahnavi Kirkire (she/her) is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park studying Government & Politics with a concentration in International Relations and Public Policy, with two minors in History and Law & Society. Kirkire is deeply involved around campus in SGA, Phi Alpha Delta, the Department of Resident Life, USJ, and more. During her freshmen year, she interned at USAID in the Office of Transition Initiatives through the Virtual Student Federal Service under the Department of State. The summer following, she interned on Capitol Hill in the House of Representatives. This year, Kirkire decided to participate in the VSFS program again, and currently interns under the DEIA Team in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. Last semester, she also served as a District Intern in another office in the House of Representatives. Jahnavi hopes to work for the Department of State and abroad in the future!
Shivani Sidh (she/her) is a sophomore public policy student also double majoring in international relations. She is a passionate social and environmental justice advocate, working with the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus and NAACP Maryland State Conference. Sidh is currently still working with the Latino Caucus, and plans to continue until graduation. Sidh joined the NAACP by receiving the School of Public Policy’s “Dean’s Internship Award.” Throughout the summer of 2022, she worked in the Environmental and Climate Justice Committee with the intent of mitigating the disproportionate affects of climate change on Maryland’s underrepresented communities. Specifically, Sidh administered a research project to analyze the status of Maryland’s environmental issues, created social media content, and organized a community event to help the Prince George’s County community with utility bills and provider issues.
Suha Hassan (she/her) is a senior, double majoring in Public Policy and Criminology & Criminal Justice. Hassan currently serves as the Undergraduate Co-President of the Policy Student Government Association and is the founding president of the foreign policy student organization at UMD called The John Quincy Adams Society. She is a Global fellow for the Federal and Global Fellows Program on the U.S. diplomacy track and is currently an undergraduate teaching assistant for PLCY100. In the summer of 2022, Hassan interned virtually at the Center for Popular Democracy with their Basebuilding team where she was responsible for outreach, course administration, and research.
