Hometown Diplomat Program with UMD Alumnus Noah Kaufman (U.S. Department of State)

The School of Public Policy is honored to announce that UMD Alumnus Noah Kaufman, of the U.S. Department of State, will be speaking at SPP as part of the Hometown Diplomat Program. The mission of the Hometown Diplomat Program is to put a hometown face on foreign policy and to explain to America what we do and why it matters.

Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of this event. 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Noah Kaufman, CPA, CGFM, CGMA has over twenty years of experience in federal financial management, including financial system development, enhancement, training and implementation. Previous roles include serving as an auditor for Arthur Andersen, financial analyst for the Federal Reserve Board, and senior consultant for CGI Federal.

At CGI, Kaufman worked on implementation, testing and analysis of logistics, fixed assets, and financial systems at the US Department of State, GSA and EPA. He worked as an accountant for DHS / U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. Kaufman created, modified and delivered training on financial management, and also served as supervisor over systems implementations and enhancements, as well as team lead over financial policy.

Kaufman also previously served as a senior accountant with the U.S. Agency for Global Media (formerly Broadcasting Board of Governors) and as manager for financial reporting. As a systems accountant for DHS / U.S. Coast Guard, he created and presented on changes to accounting string data. He taught at UVA School of Continuing Studies from 2007-2008, and also taught for Becker CPA Review. 

Since 2009, Kaufman has worked as a professor at UMGC, teaching classes in accounting system, state/local accounting, and federal financial management. Since 2014, he has also worked as systems accountant (project manager) for the U.S. Department of State. He has created and delivered training presentations to change to financial systems/business processes. He leads world-wide efforts on enhancements to inter-agency agreement processes, and serves as system manager for core financial systems. Kaufman recently graduated from the NextWave Leadership Development Program with AGA and was part of a team that won the Innovation Team Award. 

Kaufman received a BS from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
