Join the Maryland chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) as they welcome Maryland State Comptroller Brooke Lierman for an evening of pizza and conversation. Lierman will speak about her work on Maryland's inaugural State of the Economy report and discuss the intricacies of her job as comptroller. RSVP required.
As Maryland’s 34th Comptroller, Brooke Lierman takes pride in being the state’s first female chief fiscal officer. She is committed to transforming the Office of the Comptroller into an innovative, accessible, and transparent state agency. With nearly 1,100 employees under her leadership, Lierman’s responsibilities include tax collection, issuing refunds, fraud prevention using advanced detection systems, and overseeing major state contracts at the Board of Public Works. Additionally, she regulates motor fuels, returns unclaimed property and helps manage the state's pension system, ensuring accurate and timely payment for all dedicated state employees.
Lierman’s background as a civil rights & disability rights attorney, as well as her experience as a mother and two-term member of the General Assembly, informs her decision-making. She has been a leader on fiscal, transportation and environmental committees. Her goal is to serve as the people's advocate, advocating for equitable, resilient and prosperous communities across Maryland. Lierman looks forward to reimagining the agency's role in achieving these goals and encourages ongoing engagement with the community.
