On May 2, 2019, the United States announced that it would sanction any export of Iranian oil and no longer grant waivers for countries seeking to import limited amounts of Iranian crude. In recent months, the US has also designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guards as a foreign terrorist organization and personally sanctioned the country’s Supreme Leader and its foreign minister as well as companies and individuals seeking to circumvent sanctions. Sanctions have had a harsh impact on the Iranian people and affected their views of the US, other foreign countries and their own government. The Atlantic Council's Future of Iran Initiative and the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland invite you to a panel discussion on new public opinion data gathered in Iran over the past six months. The event will also relate Iranian attitudes to a broader set of issues, including Iran’s regional influence, Iranian relations with the West, and the Iranian nuclear deal.

The discussion will be held Oct. 16, 2019 from 10:00 am -11:30 am at the Atlantic Council. The event is open to press and on the record.
