In this seminar, the Center for Global Sustainability will address the path ahead for China on climate and energy in two parts. It will start with a talk by Prof. Ryna Cui, CGS associate director and China program lead, to offer insights into the latest trends and trajectories in China’s energy and climate action, the key policy and market drivers of its post-peaking emissions decline, near-term challenges to overcome, and the prospects for what China may offer amid staggering global climate ambition, based on in-depth analysis and long-standing expertise from the CGS China program as well as observations from her recent trip to China over the summer. Following this talk, a panel of CGS U.S.-China experts and former State Department climate diplomats, including Prof. Cui, Rick Duke, Trigg Talley, and Nate Hultman, and will provide their remarks and reflections about China's overall climate agenda, the future of U.S.-China climate collaboration, international climate diplomacy, and the implications for the Paris Agreement.
