Maho is a Ph.D. student at the School of Public Policy. She continues working full-time as an economist in the Social Protection and Jobs Group at the World Bank. Her primary research interests include labor economics, development economics, and policy evaluation. Her current work centers on employment policies / labor regulations, and labor market issues with a focus on firms in low- and middle-income countries.
Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, she worked at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex in the U.K. (2018); the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Liberia (2017-2018); and at a consulting firm for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) (2014-2017). She spent several years working and living in Mozambique and Liberia. She holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a bachelor’s degree from Shizuoka University (Japan).
