Graduate Fellowship Application

The School of Public Policy is accepting applications for student fellowships. The fellowship awards range from $250 to $2,500. To apply, please complete this application and carefully follow the instructions below.

Once awarded a fellowship, you will be required to acknowledge the benefactor(s) of the award. The External Relations team will coordinate any required outreach.

Student information

Select one from the following as best fits your interests and career path. All students applying to the concentration-specific fellowships will also be considered for general fellowships.

General fellowships
All incoming and enrolled SPP Master’s students are eligible to apply. Write an essay of up to 500 words describing how you plan to contribute to the field of public policy and attach it below.

Environmental and energy policy fellowships
SPP Master’s students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and specializing in Environmental or Energy Policy are eligible to apply. Write an essay of up to 500 words describing how you plan to contribute to the field of environmental and energy policy and attach it below.

State and local government policy fellowships
All SPP Master’s students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and pursuing state or local government policy are eligible to apply. Students who live and work in Montgomery County, Maryland, are preferred. Write an essay of up to 500 words describing how you plan to contribute to public policy at the state or local level. If you live or work in Montgomery County, please indicate so in your essay and be ready to provide proof of residency or employment when you are awarded the fellowship.

Only one application is required to apply to all fellowships, besides the Roberston and Coverdell Fellowship programs, which require separate applications.
