Academic Advisor, Graduate Studies

Carla Gourdine will serve as the Academic Advisor for graduate students. Carla believes building positive, communicative, reciprocal relationships with students to aid them in their educational journey is pertinent. Carla feels it is important to actively listen to assess the needs of students and foster a productive and collaborative relationship to ensure academic success. She comes to the University of Maryland with 10+ years of higher education experience. Some of those years as an Academic Advisor at Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School and a Medical Training Program Administrator at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. Her experience has allowed her to sharpen the skills necessary to build these relationships with students.

Carla has a Bachelor’s degree in English and earned a Master’s of Science degree in Higher Education from Kaplan University.
